KIMONO SKINNY TIE – USD $20.00

Megumi Project uses upcycled old kimonos (vintage material) to make their products, and so their products are one of a kind. Their ties are made of silk, high quality polyester, wool, or mixed materials. 

Megumi Project is based in the small town (10,000 people) of Onagawa, Japan. The 2011 tsunami took more than 800 lives, as well as the central infrastructure of the town. With thousands of people still in temporary housing, and land deemed uninhabitable, recovery is a long process. The project aims to provide employment and hope to the town. (read more here)

The wallet is made of cork, which is a natural fiber thus sustainable. Their cork leather is FSC certified and the wallet is PETA-approved. The cork is obtained by removing the outer bark of the tree, without cutting or harming it. 

The wallet is also light, smooth, soft, water/abrasion resistant. It is also created by Portuguese artisans.

Sister organisation of Megumi Project, Nozomi Project has hundreds of volunteers who helped gather and clean pottery found along the Ishinomaki coast, with these broken pieces of pottery Nozomi upcycle them to create their products. Their products are one of a kind. 

All of the profits made through Nozomi will support the Nozomi women staff, local people and projects of Tohoku and/or reinvested back into the organization. Kyrgies is creating opportunities for the people of Kyrgyzstan. Each pair is handmade using centuries old felting techniques. Kyrgies are made from wool felt, a fabric that is naturally: odor resistant, breathable and durable. The majority of their wool comes from small family-run farms in Kyrgyzstan. 

Kyrgies is a member of 1% for the Planet. They donated the equivalent of over 1,800 trees in 2018 to One Tree Planted to help reforest U.S. communities affected by fires.

All of the Eco Leather bands use a synthetic leather free of any animal skin, PU, PVC, and toxic waste. Typical metal coloration creates tons of contaminated wastewater. So they opted for ionic coloration, although 10 times more expensive, is much more durable and creates no extra chemical waste. Their packaging is made from 100% recycled and recyclable cardboard.
